By Rosli Abidin Yahya
Bandar Seri
Begawan - A restaurant in the capital was robbed early
yesterday morning. Liakat Enterprise Sdn Bhd Restaurant has been hit
twice within the past few months. Police gathered evidence at the
crime scene from 10 am to 3 pm yesterday.
The owner reportedly lost $570 cash,
70 assorted shirts, 102 assorted watches costing $70 above, 60 pairs
of shoes, 100 wallets, 20 raincoats, 1 VCD machine, five luggage bags
and five portable tape recorders at the adjoining shop at his first
floor restaurant.
However, it is suspected that the
robbers had too many things to carry as one sack full of shirts was
left behind. They also left a pair of slippers, which is now in the
hands of the police.
The cash register was dragged a few
metres away from near the shop before the robbers forced it open, it
was suspected.
Employees of the establishment said
they had closed the restaurant and the adjoining shop at about 9 pm
Friday night. However, when they arrived for work the next morning,
they were shocked to discover that the grill entrance and door had
been forced open and the shop ransacked and robbed.
The pervious robbery was committed
last October, when one of the employees was beaten and robbed over
$100 cash, a 'Seiko 5' watch and a gold chain. He had to seek
treatment at RIPAS Hospital.
Other workers ran to help their
colleague and managed to catch two of the thieves. They were later
handed over to the police.
Police are still investigating both
cases. Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
