Chung Hwa victorious in Maths
competition

Sweeping away the individual and team
events of the 3rd annual Non-government Primary School Mathematics
Competition 2003 yesterday morning, Chung Hwa Middle School have done
themselves proud once again! Conducted at the Chung Hwa Middle School
hall, 178 students took part in the competition.
"The top score for this year's
competition is 118, as compared to last year with 96," Madam Kho,
the principal of Chung Hwa Middle School announced during the prize
presentation ceremony. "There has been a vast improvement in both
the quality and quantity of overall students' performance."
"The learning of Mathematics and
Science is a 'crossroad', where new and innovation ideas are
generated," she pointed out.
"With an increasing reliance on
computers, growing globalisation in both business and information
technologies, greater demands are placed on both schools and students.
We need to meet these challenges if we are to maintain our
'pre-eminence' in these areas in the 21st Century," she went on
to say.
The first three spots of the
individual Mathematics Competition went to Chung Hwa Middle School's
Andrew Koay Yi Jie, Sia Tze Hung and Lawrance Lim Yin Jun
respectively. Chung Hwa Middle School also emerged victorious in the
team category.
