Sweeping away the individual and team events of the 3rd annual Non-government Primary School Mathematics Competition 2003 yesterday morning, Chung Hwa Middle School have done themselves proud once again! Conducted at the Chung Hwa Middle School hall, 178 students took part in the competition.

"The top score for this year's competition is 118, as compared to last year with 96," Madam Kho, the principal of Chung Hwa Middle School announced during the prize presentation ceremony. "There has been a vast improvement in both the quality and quantity of overall students' performance."

"The learning of Mathematics and Science is a 'crossroad', where new and innovation ideas are generated," she pointed out.

"With an increasing reliance on computers, growing globalisation in both business and information technologies, greater demands are placed on both schools and students. We need to meet these challenges if we are to maintain our 'pre-eminence' in these areas in the 21st Century," she went on to say.

The first three spots of the individual Mathematics Competition went to Chung Hwa Middle School's Andrew Koay Yi Jie, Sia Tze Hung and Lawrance Lim Yin Jun respectively. Chung Hwa Middle School also emerged victorious in the team category.
