No water in weeks
By James Kon
Water is an essential part of our
lives, so when the water supply is interrupted for weeks, anyone would
be concerned and distressed. That happened to one of the residential
areas in Kg Rimba. The concerned residents complained that for the
last one month, the water supply in their community has been erratic
and the matter has worsened since last week, when for the whole week
there was no water supply to the neighbourhood.
A resident said she had lodged a
complaint with the relevant authorities almost every week but no
action has been taken. She added that sometimes, the operator even
responded rudely to her persistent calls of complaint. The relevant
authorities said that the water pressure in that area was low and that
was what was causing the problem.
Now everyday, the residents have to
rely on water tankers for water supply and the amount supplied is
limited. They claim that they can only bathe once a day and have to
limit their drinking water. In addition, sometimes the tankers are
late and families have to wait till the middle of the night.
The resident added that she was also
worried about the cleanliness of the water as it looked yellowish and
unclean.
She said that she was stressed about
the problem, which caused her to loose sleep as she had to regularly
check for water supply, sometimes even until late in the night.
The concerned resident hopes that the
relevant authorities can do something about their dire situation and
improve the water supply to their community.
