A working visit to Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) in the capital was made this morning by the "Unit Teknologi Maklumat Pertahanan" (Defence Information Technology Unit).

The twenty information technology specialists were led by Hjh Dyg Nafa'ani Hj Awg Mohammad Taib as part of the Ministry of Defence "exchange of visit" programme which includes the banking sector.

The aim of the visit was to broaden the unit and its staff's knowledge on Information Technology (IT) Systems, the Network Management System and Structure of the Data Centre. The visit will also give opportunity for the officers to exchange views and ideas with their counterparts at HSBC, especially in analysing and reviewing the IT structure of the HSBC data centre.

Upon arrival, the visitors were welcomed by Ms Sylvia Chong, Manager of Technical Services, with presentations on HSBC Information Technology System. They were also briefed by Mr Albert Roche, Marketing Communication and e-Banking Executive on HSBC e-banking systems such as Internet Banking, and on HEXAGON by Ms Lim Lih Fang of the Electronic Banking Department.

After the presentation, the visitors were later brought on a guided tour to the HSBC Operations and Services Department on the 3rd Floor for closer look at the operations of the department.
