The participation and attendances of
villagers of Kg Sg Hanching in the vicinity of Masjid Sungai Hanching,
Jalan Muara are much needed so that activities run by the mosque can
be fully appreciated and classified as successful.
The secretary of the Masjid Sungai
Hanching Takmir committee, Hj Mohd Zaide bin Hj Damit said that
without the mass participation by villagers, the activities organised
by the mosques could be regarded as wasted and not fully utilised.
He added that activities such as
talks towards the dissemination of Islamic teachings through religious
activities, gatherings and studies would not be successful if they
were to be attended by only a handful of people.
He made the remarks at the monthly
meeting of the mosque's Takmir committee, which was attended by the
Deputy Minister of Education, Dato Paduka Hj Suyoi bin Hj Osman and
Dato Paduka Hj Hamdani, the committee's advisers.
"The committee is set to stage
events such as walkathon, grand sale, charity banquet and cycling. But
we need the full support of the villagers towards the success of the
activities," he said.
He added that the villagers should be
aware that mosques are not only centres of worship and execution of
religious duties, but also centres of religious learning and physical
activities, including donation drives.
The mosque is set to organise a
walkathon May 30, a grand sale and charity banquet May 31 and a
cycling race June 1.
The main purposes in the three-day
activities are to launch the annual mosque events, donation drives
towards the Palestinian Humanitarian Fund, and also to mark the "Maulidur
Rasul", which falls on May 14, he said.
The mosque elected its new Takmir
committee last March with Pg Hj Mohammad Hafizuddin Pg Hj Bakar, the
mosque's imam as its chairman.
Earlier, the committee drew up plans
such as conducting monitoring and surveillance activities to safeguard
the security of the mosque so it would not be misused by undesirable
elements such as deviationist teachings.
The committee also promised to find
ways to attract the young generation to come to the mosque so they can
be alleviated from participating in social-ills such as drug abuse and
loafing.
It had also drawn up a mosque
calendar filled with religious-related activities throughout the year.
Last February, a renowned Malaysian
religious figure Datuk Ismail Kamus delivered a religious talk at the
mosque. More such figures will be invited to deliver religious talks
in the future, said Hj Mohd Zaide.
