Youths remanded for theft

Two local youths suspected of
committing theft at a house in Kampong Rimba were ordered by Senior
Magistrate Hj Abdullah Soefri to be remanded at the Central Police
Station pending incomplete investigations. The application was made
yesterday by the Deputy Public Prosecutor Dk Hjh Hana Molina Pg Hj
Mohammad for the two defendants, Abdul Rashid Hj Libut, 18, and Md
Zulnizam Zulkifli, 20, to be remanded for a week until the next
hearing on May 1 this year.
No plea was taken yesterday. Both
were charged with allegedly committing theft of one Pioneer DVD video
player and one Aiwa LD player tape belonging to Ak Rosman Pg Hj Hashim,
which they committed on April 9 this year.
If both are found guilty of the said
charge, they will face a jail term which may extend to 3 years or a
fine, or both.
Meanwhile the 18-year-old youth is
facing another two separate theft charges, including an offence, which
he allegedly committed with another person who is still at large.
No plea has been taken yet.
For the first charge, the defendant
along with the wanted man, allegedly committed a theft of one Sony Hi-Fi
with four speakers, a set of Sony Play Station (PS2) and a set of Sony
videotapes belonging to Mohd Afdzillah Hj Mohd Yusof.
Both allegedly committed the offence
on April 17 this year at one different house in Kampong Perpindahan
Rimba Gadong.
Abdul Rashid was also charged with
committing mischief by causing wrongful damage to a sliding window of
the same house, which is an offence punishable under section 427 of
the Penal Code Chapter 22, and carries an imprisonment term which may
extend to 5 years and whipping of not less than two strokes.
Magistrate Abdullah also ordered for
this case to be heard in one-weeks time pending incomplete
investigations by the police.
