Brunei's Fire Fighters Receive 1,124 Calls

Bandar Seri Begawan - Since early 2003 the Fire Services Department has received 1,124 emergency calls, out of the number 27 calls were made from building and house fires caused by short circuits and carelessness.

The Fire Services Department disclosed this at a presentation of certificates for the staff of the Orchid Garden Hotel yesterday.

Around 20 staff of the hotel received their certificates for basic course on fire prevention and fire-fighting technique organised by the Fire Services Department.

The Permanent Secretary, Home Affairs Ministry Dato Awang Haji Mohd Yussof, presented the certificates.

A participant from the hotel, Mohd Iswandi said the course was very useful because they were taught how to extinguish the fire in a proper way. He said that every month they have a briefing and meeting and assign their staff accordingly. -- Courtesy of Radio Television Brunei
