Al-Quran reading competition for
adults

A total of 42 participants comprising
men and women competed in an Al-Quran reading competition for adults
at the national level quarter-finals, which started two days ago and
ended yesterday at the Masjid Kg Salambigar in Jalan Muara. On the
first day, a total of 23 men and 7 women performed Quran reading while
on day two, 19 men and 5 women recited the versus.
In a competition to be held in early
June 2003, 10 men and women have been chosen to contend in the
semi-finals.
They will compete with 3 men and
women who have previously entered the finals of last year's
competition as well as with winners of last year's Musabaqah Tilawatil
Quran finals for the National Youth level.
The guest of honour at yesterday's
ceremony, Dato Seri Setia Awang Hj Abdul Hamid bin Mohd Daud presented
souvenirs to the men and women participants.
