The mini-store where the attempted robbery took place
Three employees of a mini-store were
stabbed during a robbery attempt at Kg Manggis 1, Jln Muara yesterday.
However, the public's speedy action in notifying the police resulted
in the arrest of an unemployed local male suspect, aged 23, at the
scene.
According to ASP Yakub Ismail from
the Berakas Police Station, the incident took place between 4:30pm and
4:45pm when the robber allegedly stopped his car in front of the
mini-mart and entered the store. He was allegedly carrying a knife,
which he had modified to look like a spear measuring 1.68 metres.
The man's robbery attempt was foiled
by the employees of the store. In the commotion, the three workers
were stabbed.
ASP Yakub said that after allegedly
hurting the three Indian employees, the robber rushed towards the exit
but was stopped by a group of police who had just arrived at the
store.
The police managed to get hold of the
weapon used by the robber.
Meanwhile, the three men who were
stabbed were rushed to RIPAS hospital for treatment.
It was understood that the store had
been robbed before but the first incident was not reported to the
police.
Personnel from the Berakas Police
Station with the assistance of the Special Investigation Unit are
trying to determine if the first case was linked to yesterday's
robbery attempt and whether the arrested suspect was the same robber.
