Flower Horn Fish On Show At 2003

Begawan - The Fisheries Department and the Eulofa Aquarium and
Trading Company are to jointly organise the first ever Brunei National
Flower Horn Competition to be held in May.
According to the organiser, the fish
of the flower horn species, which is described as bringing good
fortune could cost from $600 to as expensive as $1,000. The fish takes
between five months to one year to come of age.
At last year's Malaysian Exhibition
the most expensive flower horn fish was sold for $600,000.
The flower horn fish has an average
life expectancy of between eight to ten years.
The event is part of the department's
2003 carnival and will be held at the fish landing complex in Serasa.
