PPPMB invited to attend Muslim
summit in Manila

The Brunei Malay Entrepreneurs
Federation (PPPMB) has been invited to attend a national Muslim summit
as observers. It is set to be held in Manila on April 23 to 24. PPPMB
members led by its president Hj Abdul Latif Chuchu is currently in
Manila, Philippines for another event scheduled today. They have been
in Manila since Sunday and are due to return home tomorrow.
The invitation was extended to PPPMB
by Professor Hassan Chana, a professor of Philippine Islamic
University and organising committee member of the summit last Sunday
while greeting PPPMB members on their arrival in Manila.
He said the summit aims to tackle and
address issues confronting the Bangsamore people especially in
business and economy.
Over 400 delegates comprising
governors, congressmen, mayors, heads of non-governmental
organisations, religious professional, women and youths are expected
to attend the summit.
Professor Hassan said the objective
of the summit is to come up with a definitive output on how to address
different issues and help the Philippine government in nation building
and reconciliation, more particularly in the search of peace in
Mindanao.
"We realise the best way to
attain our economic goals is to improve the well-being of the
Bangsamoro people working within the government frame.
"This is the main idea behind
the national Muslim leaders' forum where the basis of unity has been
laid down," he said.
The two-day summit is set to be held
in Manila Midtown Hotel in Ermita and the Governor of Autonomous
Region in Muslim Mindanao, Parouk Hussein is expected to attend the
event.
The invitation has been extended to
PPPMB by virtue that Brunei Darussalam is also a member economy of
BIMP-EAGA. However, PPPMB has not decided on attending it.
