Don't Be Caught Fishing In The Wrong Area Or Be Fined Heavily

Bandar Seri Begawan - To ensure that no one goes fishing in the wrong place 'Operation Menangin 6' was launched yesterday.

The operation was to remind fishermen of the dangers and risks involved in catching fish within the 500-metre radius off-limits covering all Brunei Shell Petroleum Company platforms.

Offenders including foreign strollers caught contravening the regulations are liable to a heavy fine.

The operation involved four government agencies, the Royal Brunei Police Force, the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) and the National Security Department with the Fisheries Department at the helm.

The operation was under the supervision of the Acting Fisheries Licensing Senior Officer Awang Haji Ismail.

No arrests were made.
