Now Remote Temburong Comes Under
Raid

Begawan - Brunei's remote district of jungle covered Temburong
has come under attention of the Police, Immigration and the Religious
raiding parties.
About 18 foreign workers were
detained during a joint operation on illegal immigrants conducted by
the Royal Brunei Police Force, the Enforcement Section of the
Immigration Department and the Islamic Syariah Enforcement Department
in the Temburong district on Saturday.
Those detained were Indonesians and
Thais who were found working as construction workers in the district.
A Thai national was caught for possessing drug and syabu consuming
utensils.
The 18 foreign workers were taken to
the police station for further investigation.
The operation began at 10.45 am and
was completed at about 3.15am. It was aimed to monitor the number of
foreign workers who are employed without work permits as a move to
bring down the crime rate in the district.
The raid took place in several areas
including the worker quarters of a sawmill and also the living
quarters of foreign workers along Jalan Labu as well as those living
at the quarries of Batang Duri.
ASP Sulaiman Aliddin, Assistant
District Commanding Officer, headed the joint operation. Also involved
were Awg Dollah Hj Ibrahim, the Senior Immigration Officer and Ampuan
Hj Abu Bakar Ampuan Hj Taha from the Islamic Syariah Enforcement
