Members of Scouts Association of Brunei take an oath
The Scouts Association of Brunei
Darussalam held a certificate presentation ceremony yesterday at the
Scouts Complex to appoint 62 New Scouts Commissioners for the year
2003 - 2004. The Guest of Honour was Lt. Col (U) Zulkifli Hj Nayan,
Commanding Officer of Branch Operation, Royal Brunei Air Force, who
gave away the certificates to the 62 new appointed Commissioners. Also
in attendance was the Chairman of the ceremony and Chief National
Commissioner of the Scout Association, Zainal Abidin Penghulu Hj
Ibrahim. "Even though the job of a commissioner is a voluntarily
work, it is hoped that they will be more pro-active and responsible to
the task given, and not just wait for an appointment or the issue of
warrant," said the chairman of the ceremony cum Brunei Scouts
Association Secretary General.
He also said the appointments of the
new commissioners are needed for the association to handle the
ever-increasing task and responsibilities, in addition to continuing
the task of the veterans.
"Any branch, sections or
operations are not allowed at anytime to issue or appoint any members
as commissioners. The appointment of Commissioners is only valid when
done by the head of Scouts Commissioner of the Scouts Association. If
this happens to the contrary, the appointments will not be recognised.
Furthermore disciplinary action could be taken under the scouts
regulations, which is stated in the scouts rules and regulation
book."
He stressed that all the
commissioners that have been appointed can carry out their tasks more
efficiently, be committed, responsible and always attend to functions
when summoned by the scouts headquarters.
The Guest of Honour later toured the
exhibition displaying Safety and Risk Procedure, setting up of tent,
Scouts International Stamps Collections, Communication equipment, Air
Scouts exhibits, Sea Scouts exhibits, past activities and a picture
collection.
The ceremony ended with a doa.
