Cases of thefts of vehicles and car
accessories have become widespread in this country, while the Muara
police blamed unemployment as the single cause of crime rising in
Brunei Darussalam. Vehicles, especially 4WDs, continue to be reported
stolen, the most recent from one person who said that his 4WD was
stolen at night while it was parked in the garage.
However, he said that he never locked
the main gate to his house.
Another victim was lucky enough to
have his vehicle back after being stolen for seven hours last
Thursday.
Unfortunately, his stereo, personal
documents and other belongings, such as camera accessories, were gone.
The man said that the car, owned by
his father, was parked at Perindustrian Beribi II, Beribi while he was
working nearby as a mechanic.
His father was overseas accompanying
a trade delegation to Indonesia at that time.
Around 10 am, he noticed the car was
missing. At 5.30 pm, his friends called him to say the car, a green
Rover, was found parked not far from the area where he earlier parked.
When he checked the interior he found
that the stereo was missing and his father's black jacket had been
taken as well. More items were missing from the boot.
