Science dept given fire, bio-hazard demo

Removing anthrax and dealing with hazardous spills on the body were some of the demonstrations shown to staff of the Department of Scientific Services, Ministry of Health recently by personnel of the Fire Services Department. Two demonstrations have been carried out recently. In the first demonstration conducted on April 7, 2003, the Fire personnel gave a briefing and demonstration on fire-extinguishing methods. They also briefed the Scientific Services Department staff on safety in buildings in the event of outbreak of fire.

In the second demonstration conducted April 15, 2003, the staff were briefed on the Fire Services' Hazmat team, and on measures taken in the event of hazardous spill accidents.

The demonstration was also aimed at cementing closer relations between the two departments. Both demonstrations were conducted alternatively at the Scientific Services Department premises in Jln Kebangsaan and at the Fire Services Department at Jln Airport Lama.
