Primary 5 & 6 students of PDS
International School and PDS School (Secondary Section) recently
visited the International Convention Centre for an exhibition on
"Healthy Environments for Children".
The exhibitors varied from government
and non-government offices involved in the complete safety of our
young children and the reduction of accidents and diseases brought
about by an unhealthy environment.
The Entomology and Parasitology Unit,
as one of the exhibitors, encouraged the students to look into
microscopes to study the structures of disease-carrying mosquitoes
found in Brunei.
They also explained the initiatives
taken by their unit on how to eradicate the existence of harmful
mosquitoes.
Another booth exhibited the
importance of maintaining a clean set of teeth. Gum and other dental
diseases were also explained to the students.
Aside from photos and samples
exhibited that day, games and other health related activities also
attracted the children's attention.
