Shima Naweh, Kevin Jong Chin Khoon's
mother said that when she bought a walking chair for him to use as a
toddler, she couldn't understand why he was not moving in it.
Initially, he looked normal to Shima. But soon she realised that he
was unable to move either of his legs, and she quickly brought him to
Tutong clinic.
Shima, 45, lives in Kg Batang Mitus,
in Tutong. Ever-since Kevin was first brought to the KACA House in
Tutong, he had been treated as a special-needs child. Now, at the age
of eleven, he is regularly taken there for exercise.
Shima said that her son now is at
Primary 4 in Sekolah Rendah Batang Mitus and that he always wanted to
be a normal person. He is mentally & physically fit and likes to
read. He apparently also likes watching "Power Rangers" on
TV.
Not the least bit shy whilst being
interviewed in his wheelchair at the KACA House, Kevin spoke of
activities in his daily life. He always likes to look smart, neat and
clean. Hygiene is his motto, his mother added. He is a very talented,
talkative and attentive boy in school.
A mother of five with grandchildren,
Shima treats Kevin equally regardless of his characteristics.
