Jefri Bolkiah College holds Nasyid
contest

In conjunction with the Islamic New
Year 1424, a Nasyid competition was held between groups of students in
Jefri Bolkiah College, yesterday morning. The event was also held to
celebrate the conversion of one of its students, Awg Affandy bin Ujang
to Islamic faith.
Chief Guest at the competition was
the Deputy Principle of the college, Cikgu Affandy bin Awg Damit.
The event's chairman, Ustaz Hj Abdul
Razak bin Hj Ismail noted in his speech that the competition is
organised by the Islamic bodies of the college and that it was held
for the second time.
Four female and three male groups
participated in the competition. The objective of the religious event
was to train and choose the winning team to compete in the national
level, added Ustaz Hj Abdul Razak.
A 'Berbedak' ceremony and a 'Menabur
bunga rampai' ceremony was also conducted after the competition
yesterday, as part of celebrating one of its students, Awg Affandy,
who had converted to Muslim last month.
In the male category, the Sirojul
Fadhli group won first place, whilst the female category was won by
the Ukh Watunnisa group.
