Man fined for consuming Syabu

An army personnel was ordered to pay a $1,500 fine or serve three months in default after pleading guilty to consuming Syabu before Senior Magistrate Hj Abdullah Soefri yesterday. Sukorei Ahmad was found to have committed the offence when his urine sample taken by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) resulted positive for Methylamphetamine.

The NCB had arrested Sukorei during a raid in a house in Jalan Burrows at Berakas Camp.

The Senior Magistrate ordered for the defendant to have his urine tested again.

The results will be brought on a mention date to be heard on June 19.

It will be decided whether Sukorei should be taken into the rehabilitation centre or undergo the NCB Supervision Programme.
