Bru Management Academy (BMA) is an
organisation that specialises in many things, like entrepreneurship
coaching programmes, human resource training and development,
consultancy, recruitment and placement. Recently, it set up a Job
Start Up and Placement Scheme (JOSUP).
With an accumulated experience of
more than twenty years, the qualified management team moderated and
coordinated its trainees to have extra competencies, in order to
remain competitive in the job market.
Yesterday, the 3-day course programme
came to a close with a total of fifteen students coming out more
confident and eager to move on and further enhance their job skills.
The participants, all possessing a
range of academic qualifications, had learnt a variety of skills from
communication and teamwork to resume-writing skills.
Abdul Ghani Jantan, the Principal
Consultant of BMA-JOSUP, explained that there is currently a number of
non-graduates as well as fresh graduates who are finding it difficult
to get jobs in the respective fields of their choices and
competencies.
"To be selected into the main
stream of the workforce in Negara Brunei Darussalam, future applicants
have to be more creative and strategic thinkers to compete with others
who possess higher qualifications and skills," he elaborates.
One of the participants of the course
said that joining the programme has benefited her a lot as she has
acquired essential skills, such as basic computer knowledge,
communication tools and personal grooming.
The 19-year-old, fresh from her
A-levels - hoped to apply her newly acquired skills during her UBD
interview, which will determine whether she would be accepted or not.
The participants agree that the JOSUP
programme was a valuable 3-day course and will no doubt help those
that are unemployed to gain the necessary skills needed to remain
competitive in the job market.
