Road safety talk for driving school teachers

Driving school instructors and owners present at the talk held by the Road Safety Council 

The National Road Safety Council of the Land Transport Department held a talk on road safety for driving school teachers at the Dewan Amar Pahlawan, Ministry of Communications in Jalan Menteri Besar yesterday. The guest of honour, Awang Hj Othman Hj Momin the Director of the Land Transport Department made an opening speech at the ceremony, which was attended by teachers and assistants of 62 driving schools. The talk was presented by various government agencies from the Royal Brunei Police Force, Land Transport Department, Fire Services Department, Health Department, Public Road Works Department and the Curriculum Services Department. Among the aims of the talk was to increase efforts in ensuring road safety is at its best.

The driving school teachers present for the talk were also exposed to rescue techniques in cases of emergency. These procedures were presented to make people aware of how to save a life when paramedics or rescue personnel are still on the way to an accident spot.

It was hoped that the driving school teachers and assistants will be able to channel the useful knowledge to teenagers who would be sitting for the road regulation exam and driving test. A representative from the Land Transport Department, Awang Hj Jasni Hj Abdullah highlighted the roles of driving schools in Brunei Darussalam. He said that the establishment of driving schools is to increase the quality of driving among new drivers in their ability to drive intelligently and in compliance with road traffic regulations.

He urged that owners and assistant instructors of driving schools continuously strive to increase their school's quality in training students.
