Planting spirit of cleanliness
through landscaping contest

A second meeting to discuss the
annual upcoming Cleanliness and Landscape Design Competition in
conjunction with His Majesty's birthday was held at the Kuala Belait
government building yesterday. The meeting chaired by Hj Johari bin DP
Hj Noordin was attended by representatives from Brunei Shell Petroleum
Company, Land Department, Survey Department, Municipal Board and
private sectors.
The objective of the competition held
annually is to provide awareness to all levels of community in terms
of clean and comfortable environment, as well as a beautiful
landscape.
Meanwhile, the purpose of the
competition is to share experience and knowledge in the field of
landscaping construction, to encourage a healthy competitive spirit in
managing the environment as well as to increase the community's level
of creativity.
The competition will be divided into
10 categories such as: housing scheme category, public housing,
Government as well as Brunei Shell residences, Government and
non-Government buildings, Lower Secondary Government and
non-Government Schools and Vocational schools, Government and Private
buildings, Police and Fire Stations, Mosques and Suraus and a special
category.
The competition will be judged on
creativity, cleanliness, safety, tidiness, cultural completeness and a
balanced plantation, as said during the meeting yesterday.
Anyone staying within Kuala Belait
district is invited to participate and the public can obtain a form
from the Jabatan Perancang Bandar and Dewan in KB or the HEA/3 Brunei
Liquefied Natural Gas (BLNG) Company starting from May 1.
The deadline for applications is May
31.
The theme of the competition this
year is "Moving Towards Beautifying and Cleanliness of the
Environment" (Menuju Kearah Pembisaian dan Kebersihan Alam
Sekitar).
