SARS disrupts mail delivery
By Saiful Rizal
Delivery of mails, parcels and small
packages by Air Mail and Express Mail to Singapore, China, Taiwan and
Hong Kong will take more time than normal from April 14, 2003. The
Postal Services Department, while announcing this yesterday in a press
release, stated the delay is due to Royal Brunei Airlines' (RBA)
rescheduling of some of its flights to these countries due to the
spread of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). Delivery of mails
to European countries (except for Great Britain), Japan, New Zealand,
Korea and Canada will also be affected as the mail delivery service
has to go through Singapore.
The department said it will continue
to accept mails for delivery to the affected countries but the
delivery will be delayed.
This interruption will go on until
further announcement, it added.
