Brunei, Philippines To Work In Improving Education

Bandar Seri Begawan - Education Minister Pehin Dato Awang Haji Abdul Aziz received a courtesy call from Dr Edilberto De Jesus the Philippine Secretary of Education, Culture, and Sports who is also the President of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organisation Council (SEAMEO). They met at the Education Ministry in Berakas near the Brunei capital.

During the meeting, they discussed issues and challenges faced by SEAMEO. They also discussed the preparation for the upcoming SEAMEO Conference, to be held in Brunei next year.

The discussion also touched on ways to upgrade and enhance relationship that has existed between the two nations both bilaterally and multilaterally as members of SEAMEO in Education such as exchanges of students and experts as well as researchers for the benefit of both countries.

Brunei has offered 10 scholarships to Philippine Muslims students to study at the sultanate's various institutions of higher learning.
