Hit-And-Run Driver Held As Man Dies In Accident

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Limau Manis Police has detained an alleged hit-and-run driver following an accident on Saturday night in which a middle-aged Indian man died on the spot.

His fellow countryman was badly injured in the road mishap involving the two pedestrians and a 4WD vehicle at Kg Masin in the outskirts of the capital.

Eyewitnesses said the 4WD driver, a local, apparently lost control of his vehicle which hit the two men who were walking along the road at about 10.30 pm. The two were on their way home after closing the tailor shop where they worked.

The vehicle's impact killed one of them on the spot while the other was admitted to Raja Isteri Pg Anak Saleha Hospital with multiple injuries.

Eyewitnesses said the driver tried to escape. However, the Limau Manis police apprehended him for questioning after a short chase and held the damaged car at the station.

Passers-by called up the Limau Manis Police Station and RIPAS Hospital shortly after the mishap.
