The BIMP-EAGA (Brunei, Indonesia,
Malaysia and Philippine East Asia Growth Area) Brunei Darussalam
Business Council (BBDBC) has been invited to attend the
BIMP-EAGA Tourism Mart Conference in September to be held in
Kuching, Sarawak.
The event, organised by
BIMP-EAGA Malaysia Business Council is expected to attract more
than 200 participants from BIMP-EAGA member countries as well as
from Singapore and the Northern Territory in Australia.
The activity is meant to
further boost the tourism sector within the BIMP-EAGA region.
Hj Osman bin Hj Omar, the 2nd
chairman of BBDBC said that the tourism sector has been
identified and endorsed by the BIMP- EAGA Malaysia Business
Council as one of the catalysts in the economic development.
"Thus, the event is meant
to encourage the private sector to tap the vast potential of the
tourism industry," he said.
The conference will be held
from September 18 to 21 and will be staged at the Old Court
House in Kuching which has been converted into a tourism
complex.
The organising of the
conference is to coincide with the Sarawak Tourism Year, the
opening of the tourism complex and Sarawak's 40th Independence
anniversary.
Apart from the conference,
exhibitions of authentic products from member countries
including Brunei Darussalam will also be held.
More than 100 booths will be
set up to showcase those products, he added
