Brunei students at Easter games

The Brunei Students Union in United
Kingdom (BSU-UK) in one of its annual projects held an Easter Sports
Championship last month at Small Heath Leisure Centre, Birmingham
City. The event was participated by almost all Bruneian students and
citizens from across United Kingdom including the Northern Ireland and
Glasgow, Scotland.
The championship was named BRUM
Easter Games 2003 and was handled by students undertaking PhD and
Undergraduate courses there.
The theme for the games was "Berhibur
Kearah membentuk generasi berwawasan". The chairperson for the
games was Cikgu Hj Ramlee Hj Tingkong.
The official opening of the games was
by the guest of honour, Pg Ayub Pg Othman, Studies Director, Brunei
Student Unit in United Kingdom. Also present were officers and staff
of the unit.
As many as 17 teams took part in a
'5-a-side' football competition and five ladies' team for netball.
Football was won by the Peimontea team from London, second place was
the Outlaw Stars from Glasgow while in third place was the Santos team
from London. Hj Supry Hj Awg Ladi from Brummies United consisting of
PhD students won the top scorer trophy while the best goalkeeper was
the goalkeeper from Bulls & Bear consisting of BIA officers in UK.
For the netball competition, the
winner was Brunott team from Nottingham, second place was the Angel
team from Cardiff while in third place was the Dan Ganazz team from
both Birmingham and Glasgow.
