Immigration raiding party conducts an
inspection on foreign workers at a squatter house in
Anduki.
An adventurous Immigration
raid involving trekking to the remote and dark areas of
Anduki squatter houses to inspect foreign workers had led
to the arrest of a 55-year-old Thai man who was apparently
drunk and was unable to produce any form of
identification.
The raid codenamed "Operasi
Benteras 20" consisting of over 11 Immigration
officers led by Chief Immigration Officer Sulaiman bin Hj
Hidup had inspected over 65 foreign workers at the
squatter houses in the deep jungle area of Anduki and
Rasau, Kuala Belait. At one out of two squatter houses
inspected in Anduki, two Thai men who appeared to be
intoxicated by alcohol were initially caught as they were
unable to produce their identification card.
However when they were
brought to Immigration custody, one of the Thai men who
had apparently sober up then remembered actually owning an
identification card and was later released.
At a construction worker
quarters in Rasau, no one was caught breaching the
Immigration laws and was able to produce proper documents
to prove their legal stay in the country.
