Temburong School Again Wins The
Princess Forest Prize

Begawan - Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Rashidah Saadatul
Bolkiah yesterday attended the presentation for the 5th Princess
Rashidah Young Nature Scientist Award (PRYNSA).
The Sultan Hasan Secondary School in
Temburong won the award for the third time. They received a cash prize
of $3,000 and the challenge trophy.
The Serasa Secondary School came in
second and third was the Sultan Sharif Ali Seconday School.
The Princess later received a
souvenir from the organising committee.
Every year, all secondary schools in
the sultanate are invited to submit project proposals for
consideration and only five are chosen as finalists.
Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah
Hafizah Sururul Bolkiah accompanied the Princess who is also the royal
patron of PRYNSA.
The Princesses were greeted on
arrival at the Industry and Primary Resources Ministry premises by the
Minister, Pehin Dato Awang Haji Abdul Rahman.
In his welcoming speech, the chairman
of the organising committee, Awang Haji Zaidin bin Salleh who is also
Acting Director of the Forestry Department said that Brunei is known
as one of the greenest country in the world.
He emphasised that having
conservation policies in place are not enough and that it is the
longer term outlook that will ultimately decide the faith of the
sultanate's forest.
PRYNSA is the brainchild of the
Forestry Department. It was launched in 1997 with the aim of nurturing
excellence among the younger people in the field of Natural Sciences.
This is the fifth year that the award
has been organised. The project is supported by the Brunei Shell
Petroleum Company.
