World Health Organisation Urges
Countries To Keep Clean

Begawan - Brunei joined other nations worldwide celebrating the
World Health Day yesterday.
This year World Health Day carries
the theme "Shape the future of life, healthy environment for
children."
In his message to mark the World
Health Day, the Health Minister Pehin Dato Awang Haji Abu Bakar said
Brunei was no exception in facing environmental health threats.
Efforts are in place to ensure Brunei
continuous to enjoy safe and healthy environment in line with the
World Health Day's theme.
Environmental issues include unsafe
drinking water, filthy environment, air pollution, contaminated food,
improper dwelling and uncontrolled garbage dumps.
The theme gives priority to the
healthiness and safety of the children's life including that at
playgrounds, roads, schools and homes.
The World Health Organisation (WHO)
estimates more than 5 million under 14 years old die every year due to
diseases related to environment especially in developing nations.
