Face-Stomping Ex-RBA Officer Fined
By Malai FadleyRizal

Bandar Seri Begawan - Hj Kassim Hj Jumat, a former RBA officer in his early forties was fined $1,000 and was ordered to pay $300 compensation to a woman whom he had stomped in the face. In court yesterday he pleaded guilty to the misdemeanour.

Haji Kassim was previously working as a Fixed Asset officer at the national carrier where he worked with four other colleagues each having a partition in the RBA office.

It all began when a stray cat wandered into the office on the morning of October 11, 1999.

On seeing the cat in the office some workers began to shout.

The complainant Saridah, who was Hj Kasim's colleague, mocked him about the stray cat and taunted him. He soon after became extremely angry. He rushed at her and pulled her hair causing Saridah to fall off her chair.

Hj Kasim then stamped on Saridah's face with his shoes on.

Their colleagues managed to cool the situation and calm was restored.

But Saridah who was hurt lodged a complaint to the Berakas Police Station. Medical investigations showed Saridah had suffered facial injuries from the force inflicted by Hj Kasim. (Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin)
