By Rol Ezam
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Fingerprints have sent a 27-year-old man who stole
two sets of 29 inch TVs and a video player to one year in jail
yesterday. Currently Kamarul Zaman Bahrom is serving a four-year term
for extortion.
The court heard that Kamarul was
resting on the stairs of Block B-2 of the Chempaka building leading to
Lux (B) Sdn Bhd office on August 23, 1998 and soon he decided to
commit theft of the valuables inside the office.
He forced open the main door leading
to the office and seeing that no one was around, he carried all the
items to his car that was parked near the building.
He immediately left the building and
went home to his house in Kg Tamoi Tengah.
The manager reported the theft the
next day at the BSB Central Police Station.
Investigations commenced and a team
of police from the fingerprint unit were called for fingerprint
lifting. The team successfully lifted nine prints from various areas
inside the office.
The same prints were studied and
compared with the records of previous offenders and was found they
were identical to the defendant's prints, the court heard. (Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin)
