HMI Marketing and Promotion
lived up to its promise by awarding amazing prizes to lucky
shoppers who had spent $100-and-above in a single-receipt, on
items at the 'Textiles and Commodities Exposition' recently.
The grand prize, a motorcycle
worth around $3,000, was won by Ibrahim Hj Kassim, while Dayang
Suayati Suaji walked away overjoyed with an air-conditioner.
Hj Merali Hj Jalil won a
washing machine, and Md Sofri H M Said had a new mobile phone to
call his own.
Six other lucky winners won
various attractive prizes too.
One of the chief guests,
Penghulu Hj Lutfi bin Hj Abd Halim of Mukim Kianggeh, presented
the top three prizes to the winners, during the prize
presentation held at the Bumiputera Trade Centre on Wednesday.
Others were awarded their
prizes by the Ketua Kampong of Lurong Sikuna, Awg Hj Ahmad bin
Hj Bujang.
Meanwhile a spokesperson of HMI
Marketing and Promotion - the organiser - said that the recently
held exposition had been successful in enhancing trade and
investment between Brunei Darussalam and the participating
nations of Syria, India, the Philippines, Thailand and
Indonesia.
He said some local
entrepreneurs had established contacts with foreign exhibitors,
towards a reliable source of supply, since they found the
potential of demand on the exhibited products.
A total of 52 booths displayed
textile and consumer products at the fair, which was supported
by the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources, the National
Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Brunei Darussalam and the
Gabungan Peniaga-Peniaga Bumputera.
"I can safely say that the
expo had been pretty successful in providing opportunities for
the exhibitors to expand trade.
"From what I was told, the
fair had a two-way trade set-up - import and export - and that
there are now prospects for local products to enter the
international market.
"Some of the exhibitors
were able to secure orders as well as establish trade
partnerships with local importers.
"The fair was definitely
an important event for the country as the exhibitors were able
to promote their products as well as generate investment
opportunities both locally and regionally," he said.
