The Lord Mayor of the City of
London, Alderman Gavyn Arthur will arrive in Brunei on 5th April
for a four-day official working visit. Alderman Arthur will be
accompanied by the Lady Mayoress, Carole Blackshaw.
Lord Mayor will visit the
Brunei Investment Agency, pay a courtesy call on Pehin Hj Abdul
Rahman, Minister of Industry and Primary Resources, and have
lunch with the Brunei-British Business Forum and guests from
Chinese Chamber of Commerce and International Chamber of
Commerce.
The Lord Mayor and Miss
Blackshaw, both practising lawyers, will also pay courtesy calls
on Mohammad Saied Sawan, Chief Justice and the Attorney General,
Dato Hj Kifrawi. The Lord Mayor will also hold a joint meeting
with Dato Hj Yakub, Deputy Minister of Finance and Mr. Robert
Miller, Head, Brunei International Financial Centre, pay a
courtesy call on Brunei Economic Development Board Chairman,
Dato Hj Yusof and Mr. John Perry, CEO.
The Lord Mayor and his
delegation are hoping to visit places of interests. The Lady
Mayoress will visit Rimba primary school and will also meet
eminent professional Brunei women. They will also attend a
round-table discussion covering legal issues.
This is the second time that
both the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress are visiting Brunei. They
were members of the official party when former Lord Mayor of
London, Lord Levene visited in 1999.
