The third and final year students of UBD,
accompanied by their lecturers on their field trip to Labuan.
Students from the Urban Planning
course of Universiti Brunei Darussalam undertook a one-day study
tour of Labuan. A group of about 25 students led by their Urban
Planning lecturer Dr Mohd Zin started the study trip with a
briefing by one of the officers at the Wisma Labuan Association.
The briefing was conducted by
Mr David Dominus, the Assistant Director of the Planning
Department. His briefing outlined a brief profile of Labuan,
entailing the island's development issues as well as strategies.
The Assistant Director continued to talk about Labuan's
Masterplan and other development projects.
The UBD students, consisting of
some third and final year students are undertaking the specified
course as a part of their degree programme. The Urban Planning
course aims to apply the planning practice to different areas in
various countries. The students hoped to achieve the skills and
ability to apply planning theories, techniques to solve urban
problems as well as issues in developing countries.
