The Chinese delegation of major contractors being
briefed.
A large delegation comprising
contractors from China is currently visiting Brunei to ensure
better cooperation and to forge stronger ties to secure future
contracts for projects with their counterparts and potential
partners in the country.
The delegation from the China
International Contractors Association, consist of several major
players and renowned Chinese firms as well as government
officials from China. The delegation will be in Brunei from
March 31 to April 2.
The group is led by Mr
Walanmulun, the Honorary Chairman of China International
Contractors Association and former vice-minister of the Ministry
of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation of China (MOFTEC).
Yesterday they made a courtesy
visit to the Ministry of Development. They were accompanied by
the Chinese Ambassador, Mr Wei Wei.
Besides enhancing ties between
both countries, the visit also hoped to pave the way for greater
cooperation between China and Brunei in terms of contracted
projects.
Several representatives from
large Chinese firms such as China Railway 11'st Group CO Ltd,
China Metallurgical Equipment Corporation, Beijing Urban
Construction Group Co Ltd, Shanghai Construction group and China
Wuyi Industry were included in the delegation.
The delegation also comprised
representatives from other organisations such as the
export-import Bank of China, and China Export & Credit
Insurance Corporation as well as officials from the China
International Contractors Associations.
At the Ministry of Development
yesterday, the delegation met with officials from the Ministry,
including officials from relevant departments such as
Electrical, Housing, Public Works and Town & Country
Planning.
A statement by the Chinese
Embassy read, "The Embassy of the People's Republic of
China avails itself of this opportunity to renew to the Ministry
of Development of Brunei Darussalam the assurances of its
highest consideration".
