SHOWCASING THE BRUNEI
LIFESTYLE ... The country's first electronic billboard in the
capital showcases products available in Brunei, as well as
images of the country's lifestyle. "Advertisements will run
from 6 in the morning till 12 midnight every day".
Brunei's first electronic
billboard made its public debut yesterday. The billboard,
located at the junction of Jalan Simpang and Jalan Tasek Lama,
showcases products available in Brunei, as well as images of the
country's lifestyle.
The general manager of Digi-Page
Advertising Company - which is responsible in bringing the new
development for Brunei - the electronic billboard is the first
in the line of similar structures to be put up in the Sultanate.
It was observed that the new
billboard attracted much interest from pedestrians, drivers and
passengers alike, all of whom were keen to follow the
advertisements it carried.
The Digi-Page GM mentioned that
the electronic board is available not just for product
advertisements by private sector organisations, but also for
government agencies to showcase their activities and messages,
as were seen by advertisements from the Brunei Tourism agency
and the Medical and Health Services Department.
Unlike ordinary household TV,
the screen of the electronic billboard is made up of small
individual red, green and blue LED panels that are replaceable
should they break down. The panels have a life span of 50,000
hours.
Advertisement data are sent to
the electronic board via the internet, from the Digi-Page office
in Bunut, the company GM disclosed. A company could have its
advertisement displayed on the same day as its submission to
Digi-Page, he added.
Advertisements will run from 6
in the morning till 12 midnight every day. An official launching
ceremony for the electronic billboard will be held later in June
this year.
