Due to the ongoing attack on Iraq
and the outbreak of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), a
percentage drop in daily arrivals of visitors into Brunei is
inevitable.
According to some observers,
the percentage drop of daily arrivals at the Brunei
International Airport could be seen from the 'cancellations of
bookings, especially with the Chinese route package involving
countries where SARS death have been reported, Hong Kong, Pudong
- Shanghai and Taipei.
Since the outbreak of the
deadly pneumonia virus attack, passengers have to fill out a
form asking if they are showing any symptoms of the syndrome,
and are asked to seek immediate medical treatment if they do,
for precautionary measure, a source said. And in the near
future, ground staff at the international airport are expected
to wear masks to avoid being infected, added the source.
Meanwhile, according to The
Star's Newsdesk, 'there has been a three per cent drop in the
daily arrival of visitors at the KL International Airport since
the outbreak of the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and
the attack on Iraq'.
