Hamidi, and Jigsaw Primary School Principal Ms Helen Chin
Jigsaw Primary School in
Berakas congratulated two of their most talented swimmers in
yesterday morning's assembly.
The whole school cheered on as
they went up on the stage for their outstanding performance in
the 14th National Youth Swimming Competition held in the
Hassanal Bolkiah Swimming complex last weekend
The principal of Jigsaw Primary
School, Miss Helen Chin was delighted with the two swimmers and
she hoped that their excellent performance would inspire more
children in the school to take up swimming as a sport and also
to build up a healthier lifestyle.
One of the most talented
swimmers from Jigsaw, Bahrin Shah Bin Behrom Shem who obtained
the gold medal in 50-metres and 100-metres freestyle, 50-metres
breaststroke and 50-metres backstroke in the 9-10 year-old
categories will be going to Jakarta to compete in the South East
Asia Inter-club Swimming Championship.
In the 50-metres freestyle, he
even broke his own personal record with a time of 35.99 seconds.
Bahrin Shah said that he
trained almost everyday to get to where he is now, and that he
will try his best to get the same result when competing in
Jakarta April 17-23.
Another boy, Muhammad Hamidi
bin Hj Halidi, who got four silver medals from all the same
events with Bahrin Shah, was also delighted to come second to
his friend.
Muhammad Hamidi will however
not be joining Bahrin Shah to compete in Jakarta, but he will be
going there to support his friend and the Brunei team that will
be participating in the competition.
Miss Helen Chin also stressed
that although the boys have to practise for the competition,
they must also concentrate on their upcoming PSR examination.
