The Ministry of Finance (MOF)
yesterday headed an operation at Jerudong Beach Market to
monitor the traders' activities as well as to issue a warning to
unlicensed traders.
The ministry was assisted by
enforcement officers from the Immigration Department, Royal
Brunei Police Force, Brunei-Muara District Office as well as
Fire Services, Public Works and Land departments.
The operation also aimed to
catch foreigners who do not have valid employment and entry
passes.
The MOF pledged to conduct
follow-up action to stop any negative activities at the market
and to ensure that the market is well maintained. The ministry
also hopes that the parties involved will cooperate in looking
after the welfare and cleanliness of the Jerudong Beach Market.
The market, which was built to
replace the old fish and vegetables stalls, started operating
late last year, to make it more convenient for the public and
the traders as well to have a cleaner and healthier environment
as residential areas are located nearby.
