Metassan and Dayang Asmah Haji Yakup were found resting in the
jungle at Kampong Biong, Mukim Lamunin early Wednesday morning.
They were reported missing Tuesday evening.
"We were not actually
missing nor we lost our way," grinned Dayang Hajah Bisai.
She said they entered the
jungle late Tuesday afternoon to look for the leaves of 'mangkuang'
they would use to make mats.
"We were about to walk
back home when it became very dark. I thought it would be unsafe
if we continued to walk back. We might get lost in the dark. So
we decided to stay put until day break," she said.
"I guess we were not too
far from civilisation because we could hear the prayers from the
nearby mosque. But it was too dark for us to continue our
journey," said Dayang Hajah Bisai.
She did not realise her failure
to show up at home worried her husband so much, he reported the
matter to the police.
Armed with torch lights, the
search team from Tutong Police Station and the Reserve Unit went
to look for the 'missing' women. They were found waiting for the
daylight to break the darkness so that they could again find the
right way back home.
