Brunei is expected to implement
a comprehensive aviation security action plan by July this year
as part of the new measures to be taken worldwide in response to
last year's September 11 attacks on the US.
The Department of Civil
Aviation will hold a briefing on aviation security for executive
officers at the Air Traffic Control Centre this Wednesday. The
gathering is expected to come up with Brunei's aviation security
strategy and recommend follow-up action.
The department said the
briefing is the first step towards implementation of new
aviation security measures in Brunei Darussalam following
Amendment 10 of Annex 17 of the Chicago Convention.
Contracting States, including
Brunei, have also agreed to restore public confidence in air
travel and revitalise the air transport industry.

2002, in which Brunei was represented by the Minister of
Communications, Pehin Dato Awang Haji Zakaria.
The conference declared, among
