Father Of Eight Jailed For Three
Years
By Liza Mohamad
A father of eight, Roslan bin Sidek,
aged 29, was sentenced to three years imprisonment on a charge of
consuming syabu. He is a second offender. In addition, he was also
fined $600 or three weeks imprisonment in default, for failing to
report to the supervision officer at the Narcotics Control Bureau on
three occasions in 1998. Magistrate Faisal bin Pehin Hj Keflie gave
him a week to settle the fine.
Facts of the case stated that Roslan
had actually been placed under a mandatory supervision order with the
NCB after he had convicted in court on the first charge.
However he failed to report on three
occasions, thus leading to his arrest on October 27, 1998. His urine
sample was then taken for analysis and the results showed that he had
tested positive for syabu.
