Sarah Balabagan, a former Filipino
overseas worker who was snatched from the jaws of death , is now a
recording star and a tele-magazine programme host for Biyaheng Langit
(Trip to The Sky).
Sarah Balagagan was an under-aged
domestic helper in the Middle East when she was sentenced to death for
stabbing her employer who allegedly tried to sexually assault her. She
was freed after the intercession of the Philippine government.
"The programme is on a special
trip to Brunei to visit its different historical and tourist spots to
let the Filipino viewer know what is happening during Visit Brunei
year 2001l," said Myrna Bautista, a reporter.
"Our crew was most impressed by
the golden domes of the mosques, which shone in the night illuminated
by the full, round moon last night," she said.
Aside from Sarah, the show is hosted
by veteran Filipino Rey Langit and his son Reyster Langit, every
Saturday at 3 pm over RPN 9, she said.
"We have already visited our
fellow countrymen in Hongkong, Macau, Thailand, South Korea,
Singapore, different states of America like Chicago, California,
Nevada, and Washington. We are on our way to Australia from
Brunei," she said.
Sarah Balabagan has been with the
group since its initial telecast last April 200, and this April will
be our first anniversary, which will be a special one," Myrna
said.
"Sarah is now a recording artist
and has an album. She is also working as a radio broadcaster, helping
her fellow Overseas Filipino Workers. Her pictures can be accessed at

However, she could make it to Brunei
because she had a previous commitment in Mindanao," she said.
In Brunei, we would like to see the
favourite hangouts of Filipinos, meet successful Filipinos living or
working in Brunei, their struggles and experiences, and why they
continue to stay there and how they can cope up living far away from
their families.
This is the second television crew
from the Philippines to come to Brunei in two weeks to help promote
Visit Brunei Year 2001.
Internationally awarded television
host and reporter Cheche Lazaro captured on film the different tourist
attractions in Brunei including Temburong to Kuala Belait. They will
be featured in her travel magazine, Cheche Lazaro Presents, on GMA 7,
Sunday, April 22, at ll:30 pm. She also interviewed prominent
personalities here.
