Bandar Seri Begawan –
The Minister of Science, Research and the Arts of the State of Baden-Wuerttemberg in the Federal Republic of Germany, Mr. Klaus von Trotha, will visit Brunei Darussalam from 18 April until 19 April 2000.

The purpose of his visit is to promote cooperation between Brunei Darussalam and the State of  Baden – Wuerttemberg  in the field of science and research and in particular between the University of Brunei Darusslam and the universities of Baden-Wuerttemberg. Minister von Trotha is interested n expanding the cooperation of the universities of Baden-Wuerttemberg., which have already entered in exchange programmes with other countries in the region, to Brunei Darussalam. During his stay in Bandar Seri Begean the Minister will meet with high ranking personalities including the Hon. Minister of Education cum Minister of Health of Brunei Darussalam. His programme will comprise visits to the University, the Royal Regalia, Brunei Museum and a tour of Kampong Ayer.

Minister von Trotha heads one of the key ministries of Baden- Wuerttemberg with its state capital Stuttgart. More than fifty universities and scientific institutions fall under the authority of Minister von Trotha. The yearly budget of his Ministry is in the tune of 6.3 Billion Brunei Dollars of which 75% are spent for the universiites and scientific institutions of Baden-Wuerttemberg.

Baden – Wuerttemberg is known all over the world as the home country of Mercedes Benz and for the oldest university in Germany: the University of Heidelberg, founded in 1386.
